Invisible War (2012)

Director: Kirby Dick
USA, English

I’m the type of person who would rather watch something that will make me happy or laugh. But there are times where you have to watch something because of it’s importance to the world you live in. This was one of those movies.

Invisible War speaks up about the sexual harassment happening in the military. The documentary covers mainly women, but we do meet a man who was raped as well. These women tell of their experiences and the lack of help they received from the military.

It saddens me to think these people fight for our country, willingly put their lives out on the line for us and do not get the help they deserve. It’s horrifying. You love your country. You fight for your country. But for them, their country didn’t help them out.

I personally hate watching anything at has a rape in the movie. It makes me sick and I don’t want to watch it. This movie was hard for me to watch because it was a truth. It’s not a scene that people made up in a story. It’s life. Real life. And these people experienced it in an environment that should have helped them. They should have felt safe. But they didn’t.

It was a great documentary. It was eye opening and emotional.

My Rating: 10/10
